State Congress makes frenzied arrangement for Rahul's rally

Manipur unit of Congress is now making frenzied arrangements for the proposed election rally by AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi at Kodompokpi in Wangjing, Thoubal district on March 19 in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.
Congress is making all out efforts on drawing huge crowd to the rally by Rahul, the star campaigner of Congress, to outperform BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi whose first ever election rally here last month was thronged by over one lakh people.
A meeting was held at the Congress Bhavan here on Saturday to discuss on the arrangements being made for the public rally to be addressed by Rahul Gandhi, apart from the preparations for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in the State.
The meeting jointly presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi and his deputy Gaikhangam was attended by Executive Members of MPCC, MPs, Congress Legislature Party members, presidents of District Congress Committees and Block Committees, Chiefs of Frontal and Cells, Chairpersons and Vice- Chairpersons of Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats, Adhakshya, Up-Adhakshya of Jila Parishad and Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs).
The CM and the Deputy CM urged the meeting to take responsibility and exert efforts to attract more crowds during the rally.
The two leaders also appealed to the meeting to give a new impetus to the State during the public meeting.
On the other hand, the meeting also deliberated on making use of possible energy and work out strategies with accountability in order that the two Congress candidates fielded for the two seats in the Outer and Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies come out with victory in the general elections.
The two-phase elections to the 16th Lok Sabha for the lone two seats in the State have been scheduled on April 9 and April 19.Voting in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will take place in the first phase.
Earlier in the day, CM Ibobi visited the Kodompokpi Ground to inspect it ahead of the rally.
Arrangements are making in the ground in war footing besides taking up security measures for the proposed Gandhi's election rally.
As part of the security arrangement made for the rally, personnel of Special Protection Group will be arriving here tomorrow, official sources said.
