Imphal, June 14 2020:
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has retracted from its earlier decision to lockdown offices of DMCTE, SCERT and Higher and Technical Education following an assurance from the Commissioner.
Accusing the State Government authorities of negligence in the failure to introduce the four years Integrated Teachers Education Program in the State, DESAM had announced to protest by locking down the offices of DMCTE, SCERT and Higher and Technical Education from June 12 onwards.
However, the decision has been retracted after the Commissioner of Manipur Higher Education Harekrishnana assured them that the file process for the introduction of the program has started already and it will be tabled at the Cabinet meeting soon.
DESAM, in a statement, said it will keep a close watch of the file process and they will launch their office lockdown protest if their 'repeated request' is ignored.
