Imphal, June 14 2020:
The Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK), Manipur has alleged that one individual who is a Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) of Khurkhul Gram Panchayat of Haorang Sabal CD Block was found to have collected Rs 40,000 from Material Component Fund of Line Department.
The same person came to an understanding with IPAK and the latter had advised him not to repeat the misconduct in future, said IPAK in a statement today.
IPAK also said that they will strictly monitor the implementation of MGNREGS to ensure that there are no discrepancies on the part of the implementing agents.
Claiming that a JCB was found utilised in NREGS related works at Mayang Lamjao GP under Kakching district defeating the very essence of the scheme, IPAK appealed to the BDO/GRS concerned to clarify about the matter at the earliest.
Such development occurred due to the negligence of the GRS concerned, it further claimed.
Further claiming that the IPAK had also received information about some GRS working only from a home office, the association said that they will also start investigating the matter.
IPAK also appealed to all job cardholders to attend Gram Sabha and discuss the works that would be carried out under NREGS with the officials and representatives concerned.
Urging all elected representatives to give up the idea that Government funding is excess money but work honestly to provide alternative and guaranteed employment opportunities to the poor, it cautioned that IPAK would not remain a silent spectator if any ZPs, Pradhans or Members are found misappropriating funds which are meant for the public.
Utilising machinery for NREGS works where only manual labour is permitted should be stopped at the earliest, it asserted and cautioned that whoever found violating the norm would be dealt as per the law of the land.
