Imphal, September 10 2012:
With School Inspectors failing to perform their normal duties of inspecting the schools under the State Education Department, the education scenario in the state leaves wanting on many fronts and cry for 'quality education' is just a hollow slogan.
According to an official source, even though the head of institutions in all Government Schools are trying their level best to run their institutions smoothly, teachers seldom give the required co-operation with many of them coming late and leaving school early at their sweet will.
Under such circumstances, School education system in the state has become a total disaster.
So, it is high time for the School Inspectors to resume their duties of inspecting the government schools as done in the past, or else government schools will fail to see the light of quality education.
The source went on to point out that even though the heads of institutions are discussing ways and means of bringing about a change in the functioning of their respective schools, the teachers are paying no attention because of their connection with higher officials.
Even the chowkidars are ignoring their duties.
Such arrogance and insincerity on the part of the teaching and non-teaching staffs has led to ruination of school education in the State.
The source lamented that though the Principals and the Head Masters/Headmistresses of the schools have made various complaints to the authority concerned in this regard, no positive response has been ever received.
The source further revealed that although the Education Minister and officials of Education Department have been talking about ushering in quality education and promote Education Tourism in the state, and the state government has sacked many teachers who were appointed with fake certificates, there has been no change in the system of education in the state.
The situation is even worst at the grassroots level, thus paving way for downfall of government schools in the state.
