Imphal, August 10 2011:
The proscribed UG group UNLF, in an emailed press release alleged that the arms and ammunition surrendered by the three cadres of the party in the surrender ceremony held at the HQ IGAR (S) on August 9 were not properties of the party.
The release stated that it is high time to check the arms and ammunition used by surrendered UG cadres.
The release stated that Ningthoujam Sangakpa alias Joychandra of Pangaltabi, Yengkhom Lamthaba alias Sanatomba and Hemam Lambicha alias Johnson were cadres of the group.
Out of them Hemam Lambicha who had lost his father has a younger sister and a younger brother who lives separately.
After considering the family problems of Lambicha the party gave him permission to retire from the party on humanitarian grounds.
Unfortunately, he was arrested by security forces on his way home.
Ningthoujam Sangakpa was also undergoing treatment in his home.
Yengkhom Lamthaba is a deserter who left his post from the 293 Unit of MPA.
However the US Carbine and the M16 rifle which were reportedly surrendered by Sangakpa and Lamthaba were not properties of UNLF/MPA.
The two cadres did not accompany any arms when they left their camps, it alleged.
A press release issued by United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) has also disowned Kaikhokam Singson who surrendered as chairman of the outfit.
The statment noted that there is nobody by that name in UTLA and that the outfit does not have chairman in its echelon of leaders and charged him of attempting to malign and disgrace the outfit.
The statement said that Kaikhokam Singson is an aimless individual without any principle.
He is a deserter and was a member of KNA and KRF before he was dismissed on disciplinary grounds,
it added.
The outfit has asked the state governemnt not to entertain such a rudderless person who looks at surrendering only as a selfish means of earning governement freebies.
