KCP (Maoist) appeals not to participate I-day celebration

Imphal, August 10 2011:
Opposing the force merger of Manipur into the Indian Union, the Kangleipak Communist Party Manipur (KCP-Maoist) today appealed to the people of the state not to participate in the Independence Day celebration of the Indian Union on August 15 .
Secretary Publicity and Propaganda of the party Comrade Nonglen Meitei in a press release emailed to Hueiyen Lanpao further stated that the party has boycott the Independence Day celebration and imposed general strike on August 15 from 5 am to 5 pm in the whole state.
However, the general strike will not affect medical, electricity, media related persons and other essential services.
