Imphal, August 10 2011:
A federal students' body of Chandel district in Manipur has expressed its resentment over alleged spinning of money by examination centres in Pallel area right under the nose of State education board, Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) .
The over indulgence in spinning money by admitting excessive number of external candidates by some schools in Pallel and Kemlathabi in the past few years has eroded the quality of education and has misled the students of the area into practising unfair means in the exams, said the Convener of Pallel and Komla- thabi Area Tribal Students' Union (PKATSU) Max Roel here today.
According to the secretary of the union Jangkho- mang Haokip, while few of the schools in the area which double up as "relax-ed" examination centers have only about 300 stud-ents between them in their rolls, more than 3000 candidates appear for the exam every year.
This is because the overburdened schools are engaging in rampant admission of external students for quick money without regard to the future of the students, he said.
The federal students' body warned the concerned authority to rein in such mismanaged schools and said that no consideration will be shown to schools that perpetuate unhealthy educa- tion system in the area.
A statement from the body said that it will strongly resist: transfer of other candidates to centers in Pallel area, absorption of external candidates by local schools, impersonating and use of unfair means in exams.
