Scheme workers stage rally, submit memorandum to CM

In line with All India protest of the scheme workers, All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Committee, has organised a protest rally at Imphal and submitted a memorandum for the scheme workers to the Chief Minister today.
Large numbers of people including scheme workers from all over the State joined a public meeting at community hall of Youth Rising Star Club at Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi and later staged a rally at Kwakeithel bazar.
Police deployed near the area blocked the rally and later six representatives of the scheme workers were allowed to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
Anganwadi Workers, Helpers and Mini Workers Union, Manipur, All Manipur ASHA Workers and Mid-Day Meal Workers Union submitted their charter of demand to the Chief Minister demanding "recognition" of the workers and their rights.
The charter of demand include coverage of EPF & ESI to the scheme workers as social security including monthly pension not less than Rs 3,000 .
It also demanded minimum wages not less than Rs 18,000 to the scheme workers.
Further, the charter of demand opposed "privatisation of the schemes" and demanded "adequate" financial allocation in the Union Budget 2018-19 as well as State Budget for Centrally Sponsored Schemes "to ensure an increase in the wages and Universalisation of the schemes with adequate infrastructure and quality services".
The demands also include allocation of adequate share in the coming State Budget 2018-19 to ensure that the scheme workers are paid in par with other States.
The unions also demanded that they be given regular payment of honorarium, incentive etc and all due honorariums and incentives.
The unions also demanded recognition of Mini Anganwadi Workers as workers and allocate equal share.
They also appealed the Government to take up steps to uplift the poor female workers, informed AITUC in a statement today.
