Training prog on BARC-D AE technologies begins

A three-day awareness cum training programme on BARC-DAE technologies, organised by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) kick-started at MASTEC Takyelpattoday.
A total of 30 individuals are taking part in the training programme.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Head, Plant Cell Culture Technology Section, Nuclear Agriculture & Biotechnology Division, BARC, Mumbai, Dr TR Ganapathi as chief guest, Scientific officer F, Plant Cell Culture Technology Section, Nuclear Agriculture & Biotechnology Division, BARC Mumbai, Dr TS Mehetre as guest of honour and Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) Imphal Director Th Surendranath Singh as president.
Director MASTEC, Th Surendranath while addressing the gathering, stated that six advanced technologies of BARC will be introduced at the institute and awareness and know-how about the technologies will be dispersed to the trainees during the training programme.
He maintained that the training will teach how the technologies will increase the produce of various plants and fruits including banana, pineapple, strawberry through tissue culture technique and in turn improve the socio-economic development of the State.
Apart from the tissue culture technique, the training will also include foldable solar dryer which is similar to the solar dryer with a slight different.
The foldable solar dryer of BARC, as the name denotes, can be folded and is portable as compared to the solar dryer.
Meanwhile, foldable solar dryer, online domestic water filter, soil organic carbon detection kit etc are some of the technologies developed by BARC which will be introduced and explained thoroughly to the trainees.
Th Surendranath further informed that license is required in order to manufacture these technological items while adding that the license can be availed at a nominal fee.
He added that the license will also allow the entrepreneurs to manufacture or produce the items as well.
Such approach from all sides can definitely improve the socio economic condition of the State, he added.
