Indefinite bandh called off

The representatives of JAC against the physical assault of a weightlifter, Oinam Sports Association and various CSOs led by JAC convenor Mutum Roma Devi, jointly called off the indefinite bandh called at Tiddim road, after a negotiation was reached between them and the Regional Director of Sports Authority of India (NERC), Takyelpat Francis Marwein today .
After a lengthy meeting, the authorities concerned assured that coach Golden Than will be discontinued from his post as a weightlifter coach of SAI on or before September 22, conveyed a press release issued by general secretary of the association .
It can be recalled that the agitation erupted after a weightlifter of Sports Authority of India (SAI), Utlou Oinam Tondonba of Oinam Mamang Leikai, was brutally assaulted by his coach on September 2 .
The JAC along with various other CSOs resolved to launch indefinite band on Tiddim road, however, the agitaion was called off after the authority concerned agreed to the terms and demands of the JAC .
It stated that several other forms of democratic agitation will be continued, despite the relaxation of the indefinite bandh, unless their demands are turned into action .
Representatives of JAC, CSOs, Assistant Director of SAI Thang, second OC of Nambol police station Baite were present in the meeting.
