Even a curfew has been imposed in Imphal, the women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel continued their protest against the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 in the Lok Sabha as well as the attempt to pass the said Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Speaking to media persons, MANPAC member as well as Kanglamei president Y Leirik Leima said that the passing of the CAB by the Lok Sabha on January 8 is strongly condemned by all and if the Bill gets passed in the Rajya Sabha, a great war like situation is sure to erupt in the region.
She then warned the Central and State Governments to refrain from causing such an incident.
The people of the country will not agree to let large numbers of illegal migrants come and settle in the country, which is in fact the purpose of the CAB.
The Bill is a ticking time bomb for the North East States of the country, she claimed adding that the women vendors have been protesting against the Bill since January 9 .
If the Government fails to heed the voice of the people and the brave mothers of the State, then a war is sure to come, she warned.
She continued that the people will not stay silent when the Central Government is trying to eradicate the indigenous people of the region by passing the CAB.
Warning against bringing up the Bill in the Rajya Sabha, Leirik Leima said that the women vendors, along with the general public, will not stop their protest until and unless the Bill is completely withdrawn.
