Ukhrul, February 12 2019:
A one day seminar on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2016, Manipur People Bill-2018 and International Border and Nagas in Myanmar was held today at TNL hall Viewland, Ukhrul.
On the CAB, resource persons speaking at the seminar said that CAB will surpass "our customary institutions," and urged all to support the anti-CAB movement.
There would be huge demographic change and the illegal migrants or outsiders will dominate the native people and this will impact on the custom and society at large, he added..
Pointing out the flaws of the Manipur People Bill, the resource person said that setting 1951 as the base year without identifying the indigenous people seems far fetched and added and non-indigenous people have been included in the Scheduled Tribe list.
They mentioned that the forest policy also violates the customary laws of the tribal people.
More than two hundred people from different walks of life including headmen, elders and intellectuals and well wishers attended the seminar jointly organised by TNL, TSL, TMNL, TKS and NSG.
