JCILPS Students' Wing seeks clarification

Imphal, February 27 2016 :
erming
the act of suspension of five
police personnel who were
conducting normal frisking
exercise due to pressure from
the Naga Students' Federation
(NSF) as a 'sellout of Mani-
pur,' the Students' Wing of the
Joint Committee on Inner Line
Permit System (JCILPS) has
demanded clarification from
the State Govt in this regard
within two days.
In a statement, the co-con-
vener of JCILPS Students'
Wing, Yumkhaibam Bijandro
said that the State Home Min-
ister should resign from his
post if the Govt fails to clarify
the matter within two days
and the suspension order of
the police personnel should be
revoked.
It is a shame on the part of
the State Govt for maintain-
ing its silence over the alleged
'anti-Manipur' remarks and
communal overtone used to
mislead the State tribals by
Nagaland CM over the three
Bills passed by the State As-
sembly for safeguarding
indigenous people during the
Lui-Ngai-Ni celebration at
Ukhrul recently, it said.
It is also most shameful
that the State Govt 'surren-
dered' to the NSF, it said.
The Students' Wing term-
ed the incident where a DIG
level officer of the State Govt
went to Nagaland to deliver
the suspension order of five
police personnel who were
executing normal frisking ex-
erciseafter the NSF created
an issue as a sellout of
Manipur.
The Police or Army should
stop frisking exercise else-
where if police personnel who
are performing normal frisk-
ing duty on NSF delegates
are to be placed under sus-
pension while police person-
nel who manhandled a lady rotester during the ILP
movement was spared, it said.
If frisking is to be continued
by the security forces, then
the police personnel involved
in the manhandling of the lady
protester during ILP move-
ment should also be sus-
pended.
Manipur Police is not
composed solely of the Meitei
community.
There are police
personnel from various com-
munities of the State inclu-
ding the Nagas, it pointed
out.
It also wanted to know
why the State Govt is not
initiating a political step to
outmanoeuvre the 'anti-Meitei/Manipur' activities.
The Students' Wing also categorically asked why the Govt
is not suspending the SP of Senapati Police who remained
blind to the incident where NSF volunteers seized vehicle
documents and keys right on the soil of Manipur.
It asked
whether the SP was looking after law and order of Manipur
or supporting 'anti-Manipur' activities.
It further asked why the officer who gave the order to frisk
has not been suspended when the personnel who executed the
order were placed under suspension.
It asked the authority
concerned to clarify the matters within two days.
