Imphal, February 25 2011:
Manipur people's Party (MPP) president Dr Nimaichand Luwang has stated that hectic efforts are being made for formation of north East Political Front.
Dr Luwang asserted that objective for floating the Front, a conglomerate of different political organisations in the north East region, is to neutralise strength and reach of the Congress party.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion of felicitating Konthoujam Sharat Singh, who won the recently conducted by-election to the Konthoujam assembly constituency, at Kuki Inn today, the MPP president said MP and NCP leader PA Sangma had presided a joint meeting of political parties of the region at Shillong earlier this month.
Conveying that official launch of the NE Political Front would be held soon, he also said.
Observing that election of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress nominee K Sharat in the Konthoujam by-election is a testimony of the masses' dissatisfaction against the Congress-led SPF Government, Dr Luwang advised Sharat to work with sincerity to bring all round development of Konthoujam AC.
claiming that Ministers and MLAs of the present Government have transformed into contractors to amass wealth rather than serve the public, he called upon like minded political organisations to jointly launch movement against the corrupt Congress regime.
Pointing out that annual plan allocation of Manipur is much less than Meghalaya, Dr Luwang alleged that such a disparity is due to discrimination by both the Centre and the SPF Govt.
