Imphal, January 21, 2012:
MPP leader Okram Joy has claimed that he is ready to engage Naga People's Front (NPF) candidates elected to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly in debates on the Naga issues on the floor of the House.
Speaking to newspersons at MPP office today, Joy voiced strong opposition against the assertion of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio that all the Naga-inhabited land should be brought under a single administrative unit.
Reacting to Rio's comment during his election campaign in some hill areas of Manipur, Joy observed that as the Government of India has already assured that there would be no compromise on the territorial integrity of Manipur, integration of Naga-inhabited areas does not deserve to figure in the Indo-Naga talk.
He also opined that issues concerning Manipur's territorial integrity, armed conflict, drug abuse, corruption in high places etc would be reflected when election result is declared.
