Imphal, March 01 2012:
Commerce and Industry Minister Yumkham Erabot has reportedly stated that a change in Congress Legislature Party's leadership is necessary in view of the situation prevailing in Manipur.
Notably, Y Erabot himself is a strong contender for the post of CLP leader.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, a supporter of Erabot who is also spokesperson of AICC conveyed that Erabot would urge AICC leaders to change the CLP leadership of Manipur regardless of whether he is elected CLP leader or not.
Erabot who is currently putting up at Delhi at the invitation of AICC has been meeting AICC leaders one after another even though Sonia Gandhi is currently abroad.
He has been lobbying hard with the AICC leaders explaining in detail about the need for changing the present CLP leader.
Maintaining that majority's support would not count this time, the spokesperson stated that one cannot govern the State by resorting to rampant killings jut because he is supported by the majority.

Conceding that the Congress party is still unable to deliver good governance to the public, the spokesperson asserted that Manipur still remains a 'police-ruled' State.
It would be possible to save the State from its present predicament only when the existing CLP leadership is changed and this is the belief of Y Erabot.
However, Erabot could not meet some important AICC leaders as they were away at Goa and UP for election campaigns.
Yet, Erabot is confident that he can certainly meet all the important leaders of AICC by March 3 .
He is also confident that the CLP leadership would be certainly changed this time, conveyed the spokesperson.
