Imphal, March 30:
Taking serious note of the reported diversion of developmental funds to militant groups in the North East States, particularly in Manipur and Nagaland, the Centre has started brain storming sessions on how to plug the loopholes and stop the funds from getting into the hands of the militant groups.
Disclosing this, a well placed source informed The Sangai Express that the Centre decided to start cracking the whip following intelligence reports.
The Centre has already been briefed about how developmental funds fall into the hands of the militant groups either through connivance with officials concerned or through coercion, said the source further.
A high level meeting recently held at New Delhi under Union Cabinet Secretary BK Chaturvedi discussed at length the reports of diversion of funds to militant groups, said the source further.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of effecting mass scale inter-transfer of all employees of all India services as well as State cadres to plug the loopholes.
