New Delhi, September 27:
The Army Court of Inquiry into the alleged rape and murder of Manipur woman Thangjam Manorama appears to have reached a dead end following a local Court rejecting an application for production of DNA profile of semen found on clothes of the dead woman.
"Our investigations will not be complete without matching DNA Samples of 23 Assam Rifles personnel and the semen traces allegedly found on the underclothes of the dead woman," army sources said here.
"We had put our Court of Inquiry into the fast track mode and wanted to finish the probe in shortest time to see that if any army personnel were guilty they were brought to book," the sources said adding the theory of murder had stemmed from the allegations of rape.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate in Imphal had yesterday rejected an application to direct the Manipur police to produce DNA profile of semen found on the underclothes Manorama was wearing at the time of her death.
