Imphal, September 27:
Spelling out the progress the PLA has made ever since its inception on September 25, twenty six years back, its chief MM Ngouba has said that the outfit has made impressive strides which has only given more teeth to the movement.
Addressing the PLA cadres on the occasion of its 26th foundation day, the Army Chief said that till July this year, PLA has managed to open 253 Reserve Battalion.
This is ample proof that the PLA has been making rapid strides and is in a position to fight the enemy from a position of strength.
However this is not the time to remain complacent, said Ngouba and added that the PLA too has to keep up with the changing times and new battle techniques being employed all over the world.
The advantage of the changing world should not by pass the PLA, he said and added a clear vision with an eye on the future is also highly needed.
To work towards the future, importance should be stressed on moulding the future army and new techniques adopted to make the force more lethal and effective.
Training and adopting the latest development in arms is also necessary, he said and added that though the earlier problems of procuring arms have been dealt with satisfactorily, no efforts should be spared to look into the future and identify any problem area.
Apart from this the earlier training imparted by each department will go on and efforts will be taken up to make the training more effective, said Ngouba.
To produce capable military leaders, who can come up with imaginative decisions, an Officers Training Course will also be introduced soon, said the Army Chief.
This course will surely give more teeth to the military strength of the PLA, he mooted.
MM Ngouba further said that the help and co-operation received from the people is increasing by the day and added that with such support, all the designs of the enemy will stand defeated.
The Secretary General of RPF, S Gune also addressed the outfit on the occasion of its 26th foundation day.
Extending his greetings to all the cadres of the outfit, the secretary general said that during the last few years, the secretary general has not been able to address the cadres but today, a message is being sent to all, he added.
Extolling the cadres to put their best efforts forward, the secretary general urged them to work in such a way that the sobriquet, "PLA the Great" becomes a reality.
