With the stated objective of judiciously and fully utilising the money sanctioned under the 2004-05 Plan, the State Government has decided to release over Rs 130 crores to the Govt Departments every month to take up developmental works, said a source and added that to finalise the new strategy a meeting was convened by the Chief Minister to discuss the details.
The source said that to put the new strategy into action, the Chief Minister convened a meeting today with his Council of Ministers today where Work Minister Th Debendra, Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat, Medical Minister L Nandakumar, Power Minister Gaikhangam, Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Social Welfare Minister W Leima, MoS for MOBC Allaudin attended.
Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh and other top ranking officers were also present at the meeting where the decision to release over Rs 130 crores to the Government Departments every month was taken, added the source.
The meeting which started from 10.30 am and stretched on till 2 pm, decided to take up all necessary measures to fully utilise the Plan fund, which is Rs 781 crores, within March next year.
The fund to be allotted to each department was also worked out.
The Chief Minister is understood to have issued strict instructions to the Ministers and the officers to fully utilise the Plan fund and not give any leeway for lapses to creep in, informed the source.
Till date the Government has been able to utilise Rs 100 crores out of the Rs 781 crores sanctioned in the current fiscal, said the source and added that the Government has decided to release Rs 130 crores to the Govt Depts this month.
The meeting also decided to take up steps to ensure that Government employees are paid their salaries on time.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of expeditiously taking up all developmental works from the Plan without any delay, so as to fully utilise the Plan fund, added the source.
Deciding that no funds will be held up, the meeting further resolved to release all the pending funds for CSS, State plan, NEC, NLCPR.
