Biren preaches mutual respect, honesty

Chief Minister N Biren has stated that when one doesn't have human values and there is no mutual respect in the society, then there is no meaning of following any religion.
"When we don't have human values and mutual respect, then there is no meaning of following any religion," added the Chief Minister.
He was speaking as chief guest at the International Meitei Pangal Convention held at City Convention Centre, here today.
The convention was organized by the All Manipur Muslim Organizations' Co-ordinating Committee
(AMMOCOC) .
The Chief Minister said that the greatest religion is to serve the poor, needy and helpless people.
He maintained that the greatest thing in life is to show and share love among 'ourselves and to live together' .

"Let us all be united and march forward to bring speedy development in the State", he added.
Biren opined that as long as there is mistrust among the communities, the State will not develop and prosper.
"We must come forward and share our grievances, problems etc so that all issues are solved peacefully", he added.
Maintaining that honesty and sincerity is a must to bring change in the State, the Chief Minister claimed that the gap between the hill and valley has been bridged by the consistent efforts of the incumbent Government.
He stated that many Meitei Pangal had sacrificed their precious lives for the State such as in the Seven Years Devastation, Anglo-Manipur War, Indian independence movement etc.
He appealed to the Meitei Pangal community to adopt and continue to use the ancestral/traditional surnames given by the subsequent kings of Manipur.
"We must show to the world that Meiteis and Meitei Pangal have blood relationship", he added.
He declared that the socio-economic survey of the Meitei Pangal would be continued soon.
The Chief Minister released a special souvenir titled 'Thong' during the occasion.
Deputy Speaker K Robindro, MLAs O Lukhoi, Md Fajur Rahim, L Susindro, Asab Uddin, Upzilla Parishad Kamalganj, Bangladesh Bilquis Begum, president AMMOCOC SM Jalal, delegates from Bangladesh, Tripura, Assam etc and representatives of various CSOs participated in the convention.
