Referees from across various districts of Manipur have joined hands to condemn the suspension of 8 match officials, including 3 match commissioners and 5 referees by All Manipur Football Association for a period of 1 year from December 21.Expressing dissent over the suspension, altogether 65 referees have signed a petition to AMFA president stating that they will stop refereeing if the suspension order is not rescinded at the earliest.
It may be recalled that the match officials were put under suspension by AMFA executive council on the charges of non cooperation and violation of Referees' Code of Conduct.
A meeting was convened today at Lilong Chajing ground to discuss about the development today and many active referees who attended the meeting unanimously urged AMFA to revoked the suspension being put on 8 match officials, said a press statement.
The referees while condemning the decision to suspend the match officials, maintained that the charges labelled against them are "inappropriate and unfounded" and "unacceptable step" on the part of AMFA, it added.
If the order is not revoked, the referees would consider that they are also under suspension and will not co-operate AMFA in any activity until an amicable solution is brought, it continued.
As per the statement, the referees have resolved to decide their further course of action in the nearest meeting.
