Imphal, December 19:
Cracking the whip against fake appointments, the Gauhati High Court has directed the Government to recover the money released to 38 teachers as salaries who were appointed wrongly under the Zonal Education Officer, Churachandpur.
An official source disclosed that a probe conducted by the Vigilance Department revealed that 38 teachers who never faced the DPC for appointment of Graduate teachers were found appointed under the ZEO, Churachandpur.
The DPC was conducted in 1998.Issuing its order, the High Court had directed the Government not to release further pay to the fake appointees as well as to recover the money paid to them earlier as salaries.
In response to an appeal filed by the 38 teachers against the Court ruling, Justice MBK ruled that their posts should be treated as non-existent as they were appointed without appearing in the DPC.
The 38 teachers also filed anticipatory bails but the same were rejected by the Court.
Following the ruling of the Court, the Vigilance Department has asked the SPs concerned to arrest all the teachers involved in the fake appointment cases.
