New Delhi, December 19:
The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights, Delhi shares the pain and sorrow of the family of Lucy Kashung who is suspected to be murdered on the 15th night by the 'friends' whom she went out with.
NPMHR, Delhi Chapter Convenor T Ningreichon and its co-covenor Neikesanuo Sorhie while issuing a statement to Newmai News Network in New Delhi today condemns the utter apathy and lackadaisical attitude of the Delhi Police.
"The Roop Nagar Police Station refused the registration of an FIR.
Only on the 2nd day after the post-mortem and after the intervention of senior bureaucrats and officials the FIR could be lodged," alleged the Naga rights body.
The statement said that NPMHR is disturbed by the increasing crime perpetrated on women and people especially from the North East without any support and redressal from the concerned authorities.
Any attempt to seek justice is meted out with indifference or blaming the victims instead.
It recalled the incidents where the victims were made to undergo traumatic experiences compounded by the apathy and insensitiveness of the concerned system and authorities.
NPMHR demanded an impartial and urgent enquiry into the case of Lucy.
