Fertiliser dealers set ultimatum

Giving tomorrow (July 12) as the deadline for lifting the fertiliser quota of the MLAs being kept in their godowns following an instruction of the Government of Manipur, the fertiliser dealers have decided to make the quota of the MLAs available to the farmers at the rate of Rs 520 per bag through their respective agents if the same has not been lifted.
A decision to this effect was taken during a joint meeting of the fertiliser dealers in the conference hall of Agriculture Department today.
The meeting discussed in details, the difficulties faced by the fertiliser dealers as the fertiliser quota of the MLAs being kept in their respective godowns have not been lifted.
It is said that under an instruction from the State Government, the fertiliser dealers were made to keep the fertiliser quotas of the MLAs in their respective godowns from the State quota lifted from outside the State.
However, the quotas of the MLAs are still lying in the godowns even though the farmers are in need of
fertilisers these days.
Giving July 12 (tomorrow) as the deadline for lifting the fertiliser quotas of the MLAs from the godowns, the meeting decided that in case of failure, the same would be made available to the farmers at the rate of Rs 520 per bag through the respective fertiliser agents.
Furthermore, the meeting decided not to lift State quota of fertiliser until the quantity being hoarded in the form of MLAs' quotas are disposed.
Prior to the meeting of the fertiliser dealers, a joint meeting of the high ranking officials of the Agriculture Department including its Minister, Ph Parijat and the fertiliser dealers was convened to discuss the matter and other related issues.
The joint meeting decided to make the fertiliser available in the market at the rate of Rs 520 per bag.
