Naga Women's Union (NWU) has flayed the police for dispersing a group of Mapithel dam affected people who gathered to convene a meeting yesterday.
NWU demanded for the early review of the rehabilitation and resettlement plan in a transparent and accountable manner.
The union also pressed to immediately halt the construction of the dam until a comprehensive rehabilitation and resettlement plan is prepared.
Urging the Government to be sensitive with the displaced villagers who have sacrificed their land, water and forest for the greater common good, NWU added that the union would stand with the affected villagers.
Saying that resettlement and rehabilitation must be completed before one year of submerging the affected land, NWU said that the Government has not brought out a proper yet although the time for submerging villages has been fixed for October this year.
