Youth lynched at Konuma Hiyankhong

Imphal, April 01 2012:
A young man of 20 was lynched at about 7 last evening at Konuma Hiyankhong under Mayang Imphal police station in Imphal West, under contradictory claims.
Contradictory claims have surfaced over the incident that led to the killing.
A complaint filed by the family members of the deceased said that the youth, identified as Md Abdul Malik and his younger brother went to Konuma Hiyankhong to present 'customary money' of Rs 50,000 to his fiancee's family.
In the complaint, the family members alleged that Malik and his younger brother were accosted by four persons and thrashed.
The younger brother managed to escape, they contended.
On the other hand, according to another complaint filed by one Md Amjad Ali of Konuma Hiyangthong, four armed persons came to his house last night to extort money.
After the family members raised a hue and cry, the local people gathered and rushed in and thrashed the four persons, resulting in the death of one of them while the other three escaped.
The deceased Md Abdul Malik alias Boy (20) son of Abdul Latif hailed Phoubakchao Makha Leikai.
The body has been retrieved by Mayang Imphal police and kept at RIMS morgue.
He also urged the concerned to give legal punishment if his father is found guilty.
