Different organizations of Jiribam appeal to reopen weight bridge at Samupunbi on NH-37

N Nivarani Devi, President, WASED appealed the authority concerned to reopen the Weight Bridge of HITOWO at Samupunbi (Gularthon) on NH-37 which was closed by the State Govt after being in operation for one month since January 14 adding that the said weight bridge was inaugurated on January 1 for the benefits of the public especially the drivers and to improve the condition of the NH-37.This statement were made by N Nivarani Devi in a press meet held at the conference hall of Jiri News Network (JNN) in the presence of other women leaders of AJMP, JIMWOK, Jiri Keithel Ema, WWOK and WASED at around 2.30 pm today.
In the press meet, one of the women leaders, S Sushila Devi, President, AJMP also appealed the authority concerned to re-open the said weight bridge which was in operation for one month before it was shut down.

Other women leaders who took part in the press meet include Th Jini Devi, President, JIMWOK; N Khumanlei Devi, Secy, Jiri Keithel Ema; H Chandrabala, Secy, WWOK; Y Ragini Devi, Secy WASED; K Inaobi Devi, Vice-President, AJMP; S Sorojini Devi; Vice-President, Jiri Keithel Ema; and S Surjamukhi Devi, Finance Secy, AJMP.
Meanwhile, a press meet jointly organized by Kangleicha Club, Gularthol and Meira Paibi JIMPAL Unit Gularthol, was held at Kangleicha Club today.
In the press meet, President, Kangleicha Club, K Gopendra Singh said that due to absence of a weight bridge along Jiribam-Imphal road, numbers of overloaded heavy vehicles are plying on NH-37 causing maximum damage to every brigde it cross along the highway adding that public bore the brunt of bridge collapse and other casualties.
He, therefore, appealed the authority concerned to open the weight bridge at Jiribam and make it operational to prevent any overloaded trucks and other heavy vehicles plying on the NH-37 and for the longetivity of Barak bridge and other bridges along Jiri-Imphal road.
He further drew the attention of the authority concerned that Kangleicha Club along with various organizations of Jiribam will initiate all kinds of agitation if their demands are not met within 10 days.
The press meet was attended by members of Kangleicha Club, Gularthol, M Biken Meitei, N Sadananda, Ksh Sunil Meitei and members of Meira Paibi JIMPAL Unit, Gularthol, K Bindarani Leima, M Bimola Leima, M Mema Leima and Kh Nenabi Leima.
