Taking serious note of the string of bomb attacks at different places in Imphal, Director General of Police LM Khaute has stated that the police have taken up all necessary measures to check the subversive activities.
After a lull, suspected rebels have planted and exploded hand grenades and IEDs at different places in Imphal city and its surrounding areas since the last few days, creating panic among the people.
A Government higher secondary school teacher was injured in one such blast near an Assam Rifles transit camp on Monday last.
Suspected underground cadres also triggered a hand grenade explosion at the residence of a doctor at Thangmeiband, placed a powerful IED near the residence of a retired engineer of PWD and planted another bomb at Little Flower School near Imphal airport.

The police are deeply supervising the recent spurt of bomb threats by militants at different locations in and around Imphal city, Khaute said on Saturday evening.
"All the time our objective is to maintain law and order, peace and security in the State and when such subversive incidents bbroke out, we put more focus on them," the top cop said.
"We always put top priority for security in both the capital districts of Imphal West and Imphal East.
We have been on an action plan at these areas after the stepped up bomb threats came," Khaute added.
He added that the police have come across certain modus operandi in placing bombs for extortion wherein some underground groups engaged people in indulging such activities.
"Now we have taken up all security measures to check such subversive activities.
Yesterday itself a major security meeting was convened at my office chamber to tackle the situation," Khaute said.
"As part of our series of security measures, we have enhanced frisking and checking, cordon and search operations at different places particularly greater Imphal areas.
Intelligence gathering mechanism has also been geared up," continued the DGP.
There is close coordination with other security agencies, he said and continued "at my level, I'm personally supervising the security measures.
We will continue to do our best and provide maximum security possible to the people of Manipur" .
On the police's efforts in tracking Thokchom Nando, a militant leader who is on the run after escaping from JNIMS hospital in Imphal East on March 26, Khaute said the police have extended all possible efforts to arrest him.
"We are trying our level best to arrest Nando.
We are deeply examining in all aspects to track him down.
Our agencies are actively working on it within and beyond the state," he said.
