One remanded for cyber crime

Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West remanded one 30 year old Md Yunus Ali in judicial custody on charges of sending obscene pictures, videos and vulgar words to a girl through Facebook and WhatsApp.
The accused, Md Yunus Ali s/o Md Abas Alo of Oinam Sawombung Wangoi, was formally arrested by Cyber Crime PS Manipur was produced before the Court yesterday, along with a prayer for judicial custody remand.
Md Yunus Ali was arrested on April 24 after the victim filed a written complaint at Cyber Crime PS, stating that on April 15 she got a friend request from an unknown person through Facebook messenger and they had chatted in a friendly manner.
However, after the unknown individual began using vulgar and sexist comments, she disconnected the call but the unknown person began sending her WhatsApp text messages containing photos of naked women which were edited with her face/photos which had been downloaded from her Facebook account.
The complainant also claimed that the unknown person started making video calls through WhatsApp showing his private parts and demanding the victim to show her private parts threatening that he would upload the doctored photos in social media sites if she refused.
During the course of the investigation, the accused revealed that he scanned Facebook accounts of many girls and got their mobile numbers through the FB accounts or by chatting in Facebook Messenger.
He would start conversation with the victims and send them pornographic videos and photos through WhatsApp and threaten them to upload the fake photos.
He then would demand them to send their real photos threatening that he will outrage their modesty in front of the public.
Further it was found that the accused sent pornographic videos and photos to two other girls through WhatsApp as well.
In the meantime, Cyber Crime PS Manipur formally arrested the accused in connection with another similar case which was filed against him.
The complainant of the 2nd case had filed a complaint to Cyber Crime PS on December 23 last year stating that on the day, at around 5.30 pm, she received a video call through WhatsApp from an unknown caller who identified himself as one Romio and who began using vulgar words.
It was also mentioned that the unknown person, during the video call, allegedly began showing his private parts to the victim and threatened her that he will upload morphed nude pictures of her in Facebook if she did not listen to him and show her private parts to him.
The Court after going through the case records remanded the accused to judicial custody till May 10 .
