2 Manipuri women get into 'Vashundara Hall of Fame'

The 'Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur of the Year' awards were presented in New Delhi.
The title awards went to Dolly Khongla of Meghalaya for the year 2015-16 and Neera Sarmah of Assam for the year 2016-17 .
Besides 16 other ladies were awarded with the state awards for all the eight States of North East India.
The award ceremony held at the PHD House, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi was attended by Robin Hibu, IPS, first from NE India to be posted in an IGP Rank as Joint Commissioner in the Rashtrapati Bhawan as the chief guest, Ambassador Ajit Kumar, former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations & other International Organisations in Geneva, Amarendra Khatuwa, IFS, former Ambassador to Argentina and DG, ICCR, Nayanmoni Borah, ex-CMD, Oil India Ltd., Rupsikha Saikia Bora, Director Finance, Oil India Ltd., Rakesh Mathur, president, ITC Welcome Heritage Group and Ashish Chopra, Culinary Historian as guests of honour.
The Vasundhara Hall of Fame, 2018 awards were presented to five amazing women from North East India who have made remarkable contributions towards promoting NE India in global forums.
Those awarded are Babita Barua, Managing Partner, GTB India (WPP Group), Krishna Sarma, Managing Partner, Corporate Law Group, New Delhi, Jesmina Zeliang, Founder of Heirloom Naga, Indira Chirom and Ng Bimolata Devi who have taken Northeast Handloom to new heights with their magic of weaving.
Started with the invocation of Dony Polo sung by Taba Yall Nabam of Arunachal Pradesh, the award function saw Manipuri Raas Leela dance performance, Naga dance and acrobatics performance of the Meiteis from Manipur.
Minister of DoNER Dr Jitendra Singh who had consented to attend the programme had to skip it in.
