Manipur State Commission for Women clarifies

Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has clarified that it was not summoned by the High Court of Manipur in any way.
Speaking to media persons at MSCW office today, its Chairperson Dr Meinam Binota clarified regarding a news reports published in some local dailies and said that the Commission did not take side in the case mentioned in the news report.
The Commission was just doing its job, she said, adding that regarding the said case, the Commission had sent 4/5 notices to the complainant but to no avail.
However, following a defamation charge put forward by the people accused by the complainant and their family members, the Commissioner sent the necessary information to the complainant through her legal counsel.
The Commission issued the warrant of arrest after following all necessary procedures and protocol like analysing the status reports of the police, medical reports and social investigation reports, she said.
The Director further clarified that regarding the case, no complaint came to Lamshang PS and the medical report did not contain any valuable information from which to take up a case, she explained.
She further clarified that the Commission is not preventing the complainant from withdrawing her case if she so desires.
