Flying squad briefly detains stash of cash

The surveillance team in connection with the ensuing LS poll which has been randomly frisking vehicles at different locations to check movement of cash and other items to entice voters has yesterday briefly detained a stash of cash at Kangvai village but returned them after the authority concerned duly verified its veracity.
The cash said to be several lakh was intercepted by the surveillance team while conducting regular check yesterday, said a source.
As the owner � a contractor, has the bank receipt in hand and after duly cross-checking his claim of being meant for payment relating to his contract works from the PWD, which the department officials confirmed, it was returned, added the source.
Besides the cash, the team has also seized 3 baskets and 2 bags of yeast, chemical used in brewing local liquor.
The yeasts were seized from the possession of two women in a Maruti Van and were later in the day burnt by the police and excise officials inside the Police Station premises.
