KEDO observes 5th Foundation Day

Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) Chairperson N Raghumani today urged the people of the state to contribute their mite towards a better society.
He was speaking at the observance of the 5th Foundation Day of Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) held at Imoinu Keithel Complex, Imphal.
Speaking as President of the function, Raghumani lauded the effort of KEDO which is playing a major role in keeping Imphal city neat and clean.
He also urged the people in and around Imphal city to cooperate and support KEDO in its drive for a clean Imphal.
Secretary General of KEDO Elangbam Bhorot said that KEDO was established on April 20, 2007 at Sanamahi Temple Complex at Haying Khongbal with an aim to cultivate work culture as well as uplift socio economic condition of the people.
Since the people lost the culture of hard work, crimes have increased manifold in the society in their craze for earning easy money without much hard work.
As a result, a sense of dependency has been created in the minds of the people and the economic condition has deteriorated.
He informed that a member of KEDO can now earn anywhere between Rs 500 to Rs 5000 in a day in accordance to the types of jobs they do.
People are now purchasing the goods from KEDO members who go around selling tea, fruit juices, snacks, etc.
He also appealed to the people of the state to cultivate work habit and make the society economically sound.
MLA L Ibomcha graced the function as Chief Guest.
Councilors, IMC Ph Prameshwari, H Nutanchandra, Salam Tiken and Ph Memchatombi Chanu and OC City Police Rk Tejbir also attended as Guests of Honour.
At the occasion, Producer of Manipuri Feature Film "Mami" Laishram Langjahanba, Director cum Scriptwriter Jitendra Ningomba, Actor Kaiku and writer of novel "Nahakta Natte Soinaiba, Eisuni" Moirangthem Moirang Leima were honoured with gifts for promoting work habits in their films and novel.
