Imphal, June 15 2013 :
In the aftermath of the controversy over Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel posted at CM's Secretariat trying to frisk some Cabinet Ministers recently, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of CISF Nanda Gopal Gupta arrived at Imphal yesterday to take stock of the incidents.
As per the directive from the Director General of Police of CISF, DIG Nanda Gopal met the officers and personnel of CISF posted at the Chief Minister's Secretariat yesterday and gathered detailed reports regarding frisking of Cabinet Ministers.
A reliable source said that the CISF personnel on duty of guarding a VVIP have been authorized to frisk all other VVIPs other than the protectee.
Following such security protocol, the Cabinet Ministers and MLAs should not feel offended when they are subjected to frisking by these security personnel, the source added.
The safety and security of Chief Minister is also the responsibility of the State Cabinet.
The Ministers and MLAs have been following this security protocol for quite a long time, but the recent outburst of some Cabinet Ministers regarding the frisking issue is said to be unjust.
A decision on whether the CISF personnel should continue to guard Chief Minister Okram Ibobi or not is likely to be taken by the DIG in his current Imphal visit itself.
DIG Gopal met CM Ibobi, Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu and other officers of the State today evening.
