Senapati, October 13 2020:
The Mao Students' Union Joint Action Committee (MSUJAC) in a statement has expressed displeasure and anguish at the State Government over the delayed tactics in bringing to light the reports of the Enquiry Committee, set up by the Government, to investigate the untimely demise of late A Mayili Charana, former president and tribunal general, Mao Students Union.
The MSUJAC justified that, it had anticipated positive response thus far yet even after a span of 68 days of the said incident which took place on August 6, 2020, no reports of the Enquiry Committee were intimated to MSU.
On August 6, considering the gravity of the injury of late A Mayili Charana and the medical treatment given to him by the medical fraternity on the fateful day, the Union felt that there were lapses and unprofessional negligence by the medical team as well.
An ultimatum was served to the Government of Manipur to constitute an enquiry committee and come up with appropriate findings.
A Departmental Enquiry Committee was set up by the Government on August 14, headed by Dr H Babychand Devi, Additional Director, Health Services and Dr Probinchandra Arombam, Deputy Director of Health Services.
The Committee visited Mao SDH and District Hospital of Senapati on August 20 but denied the request to listen to the version of the aggrieved party.
MSU submitted a reminder to the Chief Minister on September 16, addressed through the Deputy Commisioner of Senapati, to follow up with the report of the Enquiry Committee.
However, the State Government continues to remain mute and neglected the matter till today.
The MSU is dismayed and has questioned the seriousness of the State Government in the impending issue.
Therefore, considering the above cited reasons, the MSUJAC is restrained and compelled to launch democratic agitations in the form of "Total Bandh" along the National Highway-2 with effect from 6 am of October 15, 2020 .
Henceforth, failing to listen to the plea of the union and the general public, the State Government will be held responsible for any eventualities in the course of agitation.
