A Covid Care Centre is in need in Thangmeiband area in light of the ever increasing COVID-19 cases in the area.
Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) said this at a press conference held at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen today and said with the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the area, it is becoming problematic to take Covid positive to the hospitals.
In light of this opening of a Covid Care Centre in Thangmeiband area is absolutely necessary.
Pratap Leishangthem, president of TUC told the media that earlier serious COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals with cooperation between the local MLA, Medical Officer and doctors posted in Thangmeiband area, but in the wake of the second wave of the pandemic, the phone lines of Medical Officer is dead, and the doctors who had cooperated previously are helpless.
This has resulted in situation where COVID-19 patients may succumbed to death before getting any medical attentions, he added.
He urged the Government to open a Covid Care Centre in Thangmeiband immediately or arranged a liaison officer who can take full responsibility of patients' admission to hospitals.
The Government should also focus on opening Covid Care Centres at other places to avoid spread of virus inside family of patients on home isolation, he added.
