ZRA's attack on Principal leaves wife, son wounded
One attacker held; Principal points finger at MLA Vungzagin Valte, Minister Phungzathang

ARMED CADRES of Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) attacked the Principal of St.
Peter English School located at Langol Game Village, Zone-2 under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district causing bullet injuries to the school principal's wife and son.
The militants allegedly fired indiscriminately inside the school premise at around 9.30 am today.
The school principal identified as P Songlianlal had contested in the last State Assembly election on Trinamool Congress ticket from Churachandpur A/C but was defeated.
P.Songlianlal's wife P.Manpi (56) and son P.Liankhanson (27) are grievously injured in the indiscriminate firing.
.PManpi received bullet injury on her left arm while P.Liankhangson was hit on his right chest.

Just after the news of the attack spread, irate people along with the victims' family members managed to pull up one of the armed attackers later identified as Thangboi (25) s/o K.G.Tungdin of Tangnuan village, Churachandpur.
One point 32 pistol along with five live rounds of bullets were recovered from his possession.
Thangboi confessed to be an active member of ZRA.
According to information culled from the site of the incident, three ZRA armed cadres came in a black colour Bolero jeep and asked to have some talks with the school's principal P.Songlianlal (56).His wife and son came out to meet the strangers but not the principal.
In the process, a heated argument cropped up between the school principal's family and the militants.
One of the cadres threatened to shoot the principal's son.
There, a scuffle between the cadres and the family members erupted.
In the process, the armed militants opened fire indiscriminately causing bullet injuries to P.Manpi and P.Liankhanson.
Meanwhile, talking to the media, P.Songlianlal disclosed that he had received threats from ZRA for being a Trinamool Congress' candidate for Churachandpur A/C in the last Assembly election and the latest threat from the same group came on September 12 last.
Songlianlal suspected the attack to be a well-planned one, and alleged that just after the incident; the armed attackers exchanged their black colour Bolero jeep with a white one from the quarter of Vungzagin Valte, MLA of Thanlon A/C which is located at Lamphel.
He also alleged that a son of Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing had escorted the attackers upto Churachandpur.
P.Manpi and P.Lianlhanson are now undergroing treatments at Shija Hospitals, Langol.
Local womenfolk have condemned the incident and said such incidents are bound to ignite civil wars if not contained.
