CCpur, May 04 2017:
The owners of over thirty elite SUVs and cars who were reportedly duped by some individuals in the first quarter of last year have openly called for justice today, saying their efforts to either get back their prized possessions or get the culprit arrested have gone in vain despite a standing arrest warrant issued by a competent Court.
Thirty nine vehicles of different make have been gathered by an individual in and around the town area of Churachandpur last year reportedly on the pretext of lending them after offering an alluring rental fee.
The vehicles are mostly of Mahindra make and include Bolero, Scorpio and TUV series.
It also involves a Honda Verna, Maruti Swift, a Renault Duster, and Maruti's Eon Magna.
The vehicle owners while addressing the press and calling for justice today said that they have filed an FIR against one Ningthoujam Opendrajit Singh and Thounajam Ningthem Singh for duping them as they have neither paid the rent nor returned the vehicles.
Hearing their grievances, the CJM Churachandpur had issued an arrest warrant against the culprits on January 19 but despite this, the police have made no arrest till date they alleged.
The vehicles owners who alleged that their means of livelihood has already been robbed for nearly a year said they even sought the help of the local MLA who was a Minister and the DGP but despite their best efforts and instructions the culprits are still at large.
'We have seen our vehicles on the roads of Imphal and in some other district but the authority concerned has done little to get them back to us,' said one.
"With our hope of receiving justice waning by the day we are left with no option but to make our appeal public and seek justice from all concerned be it from the Government, NGOs or civil society organisations and individuals," he added.
