Tanker drivers urge for safe passage

Tanker drivers who have been stranded at different places along Imphal-Dimapur highway and Khatkhatti, Assam following repeated attacks by militants on tanker convoys in Kangpokpi area have appealed to all concerned to provide them safe passage up to Imphal for one last time.
Following the repeated attacks, many oil tankers now remain stranded on Imphal-Dimapur highway and Khatkhatti fearing another attack.
Meanwhile, a joint team of the All Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters Association and the All Manipur Petroleum tanker Drivers Union led by IOC ' s Malom Depot Senior Manager went to Khatkhatti today and met the drivers stranded there as well as those stranded at different points along the highway.
Even as the joint team appealed to the stranded drivers to proceed to Imphal, they appealed for safe passage.
They further vowed that they would not take Imphal-Dimapur highway ever again if they are given safe passage up to Imphal for one last time, informed a source.
It is reported that the stranded drivers were discussing about proceeding for Imphal tomorrow.
