CADA conducts awareness programme

Kakching, November 23 2018:
Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA), with its continuous fight against drug abuse and alcohol, organised an awareness programme at Ching Tarn English School, Kakching districttoday.
Founder member Ching Tarn English School Khaidem Ratan, CADA president Hijam Priyokumar and CADA Kakching District Committee president Sorokhaibam Nena attended the programme as presidium members.
Meanwhile, CADA vice president Ningthoujam Doren and CADA general secretary Dipanjit Ningthoujam spoke at the programme as resource persons.
N Doren said that the youths indulge into drug abuse and get addicted so easily that it affects their lives and the society as well.
He said that CADA has been conducting awareness programmes at different schools and institutions with a view to prevent the youths or motivate them to stay away from indulging into the deadly drugs and alcohol addiction.
The students and youths form the pillars of the society and a good and healthy society cannot be achieved without physically and mentally healthy youths in the State.
Stating that the youths have addicted into new substances at an alarming rate, he mentioned that a person generally get addicted through peer pressures, curiosity, family members, availability etc.
He appealed the elders in the family including the parents to refrain from using tobacco or any substance in front of their children.
Meanwhile, K Ratan said it would not be an exaggeration to say that at least one person in almost all the houses abuse one or the other kind of substance or tobacco products.
Students should have a strong intuition and adopt the habit of living a healthy drug-free life, he added.
A few copies of CADA's journal, "Health for future", which is released every after three months were handed over to the school authority later in the day.
