Joint convention held

Following the announcement of general strikes on January 8 and 9, 2019, by the Central Trade Union organisations against the Narendra Modi Government, a joint convention was organised at Manipur Press Club by Coordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur, to deliberate on enforcing the said general strike in Manipur as well.
Speaking at the convention today, president of AITUC, Manipur, Dr M Nara Singh stated that following a joint convention of Central Trade Unions at Delhi on September 28, it was resolved to organise joint conventions at different States and to call all India general strike on January 8 and 9, next year.
He mentioned that on the said days, the labourers from around the country will protest against the Narendra Modi led BJP Government to save the country.
With the coming of the Narendra Modi Government, the farmers, labourers and the poor people of the country have suffered immensely due to various policies and initiatives like demonetisation which only benefited the corporate houses and the rich people, he said and added that despite various protests and demand by the trade unions and organisations, the Government has failed to budge even a bit.
