Govt, orgs provide aid to Moreh fire victims

In view of the fire which caused numerous damage at Moreh ward no 3, the State Government has extended relief aid for the fire victims today.
Aids including dal, rice, edible oil, potato and onions were handed over to Chairman of ADC Chandel, Lukhosei Zou at his residence today.
N Bankim of ADC Moreh and Relief Committee Moreh members, apart from the Chairman were present at the chairman's residence.
Speaking to media persons, Lukhosei Zou stressed on the need to spread more awareness among the people of Moreh about disasters like fire, considering the frequent occurrence of fire in the area.
He added that the State Govt should also take initiative to prevent such disaster.
The Chairman informed that a team carrying tents and other necessary materials or equipments has reached Moreh, under the directive of the Govt as well as the Disaster Management Vice Chairman while adding that the disaster management team will set up the tents to conduct a relief camp.
All Community Development Organisation Moreh (ACODOM) also extended a bag of rice each to the victims, reports our correspondent.
It can be recalled that at least seven houses were gutted by a raging inferno on the night of April 19 (at around 10.15 pm).
Two other houses were saved from being burnt completely due to timely intervention.
Even private water carriers offered help in controlling the fire, the cause of which is still unknown, as the Moreh fire service was facing difficulties in handling the fire alone.
Fire service tanker from neighbouring Myanmar also assisted in controlling the fire and by 12.30 am, the fire had been extinguished.
Moreh police, CDO Moreh, 11 AR personnel and large numbers of people offered help and assistance during the commotion.
According to a source, a four year old boy, identified as Franchise Khaisuanlian s/o Khailiankhul sustained injuries during the fire and had to be rushed to Imphal for treatment.
A case has been registered at Moreh PS regarding the fire.
On the other hand, 42 Tengnoupal A/C MLA D Korungthang, ADC Chandel chairman Lukhosei Zou, DC Tengnoupal Kh Raghumani, SP Tengnoupal Dr S Ibomcha, Relief and Disaster Management Authority, Manipur Vice chairman Adim Pamei, ADC Moreh N Bankkim, CDO Moreh DSP Th Thommas and various leaders of Moreh CSOs visited the incident site yesterday.
After inspecting the site, the team met the affected families at the residence of ADC Moreh.
Various issues like deploying more fire service tankers in Moreh, spreading proper awareness to the people etc were discussed during the meeting.
Later, financial assistance were provided to the affected families.
ADC Chandel also gave Rs 10,000 each to the victims.
Tengnoupal DC, through ADC Moreh, also assured to provide essential commodities to the affected people.
A relief committee was formed with leaders of various CSOs like MCM, HTC, MMCM, Tamil Sangam etc.
