Imphal, December 19 2016:
The Komrem Union, North East India, has appealed to all communities in Manipur to shun violence and work for the restoration of peace and amity.
In a statement, Komrem Union (NEI) president Lalkhomang Serto wished that the love and peace between communities return in the State with the Christmas celebration.
He has also appealed to all to refrain from spreading rumours for the sake of peace and tranquillity.
The union further condemned the recent ambush by unidentified militants on police personnel wherein three personnel were killed and 11 others sustained injuries.
It has appealed to all the people to work together for restoration of peace and normalcy in the State.
While sharing in the pain and grief of the bereaved families, the Komrem Union (NEI) has urged the State Government to increase the ex-gratia provided to police personnel to Rs 20 lakh.
"Why cannot the Manipur Government pay, if the Delhi Government could give Rs one crore as compensation to police personnel killed while performing duty," the union inquired.
