Imphal, December 19 2016:
Expressing dismay over the activities against the Nagas living in Manipur, the Naga Hoho today said the action against the Nagas has gone beyond the limit of tolerance and cited the attacks on Christian institutions and innocent passengers and burning down of vehicles by 'State sponsored criminals' as examples.
Stating that the Nagas and the Meiteis have been living together as good neighbours in the past, Naga Hoho in a statement said that however it seems that this is not possible now.
The warlike situation created by the people of Manipur is beyond imagination, said Naga Hoho and appealed to the Meitei community living in Naga areas to talk to their people living in Manipur not to foment trouble along communal lines.
Stating that the Naga Hoho has been repeatedly appealing to the Government of Manipur and the Government of India to respect the rights of the Nagas, the statement said that this however has fallen on deaf ears.
The Naga Hoho also recalled that the situation in Manipur has been highlighted to Union MoS for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs on November 30 and December 1 respectively.
If the Government of Manipur under Chief Minister O Ibobi and the Government of India fail to redress the situation, they shall be held responsible for any untoward situation in the future, warned Naga Hoho.
