Workers demand due wages

Workers engaged under K Pro Pvt Ltd are set to prevent all the contractors from continuing phumdi clearance works in Loktak lake if their due wages of around Rs 3 crore for three years is not cleared at the earliest.
Around 160 workers were engaged for phumdi clearance works by K Pro Pvt Ltd.
Irate workers today tried to storm the office of K Pro Pvt Ltd located at Babupara to register their demand.
However, there was no staff in the office.
Speaking to reporters in front of the office, Loktak Lake Development Committee president Oinam Prakash said that around 160 workers have been engaged for phumdi clearance works by K Pro Pvt Ltd since 2011 .
However, the private company has not paid their wages worth around Rs 3 crore till date, Prakash said.
As such, if their wages are not cleared at the earliest, they would prevent other contractors as well from continuing phumdi clearance works, he added.
