Village chief clarifies

Village Chief of L Gamngai village, Shonthang Haokip has refuted the allegation levelled by Kolpechang Village Chief Dousei Haokip regarding non existence of his village and fraudulant withdrawal of a huge amount of fund under MGNREGS.
Speaking to reporters at the village today, Shonthang Haokip said that the existence of L Gamngai village was acknowledged by the State Government according to a Gazette notification issued on October 30, 1999 .
The village is located in Kolpechang Saitu Gampgajol Block of Kakngpokpi Sub-Division in Senapati district, he added.
As such, Dousei Haokip's claim that MGNREGS fund of Rs 5,50,366 has been withdrawn fraudently for an non-existent village L Gamngai village is baseless, Shonthang Haokip said.
He said that the village was established in 1996 and it was recognised by the State Government in 1999 .
Saying that the village has around 18 houses, the Village Chief claimed that job card holders of 11 households have been registered under MGNREGS.
Informing that the village also has an anganwadi centre with Lamkhoneg Haokip as Worker and Nengjavah Haokip as Helper, Shonthang Haokip said that the centre has 48 children.
He also urged Kolpechang Village Chief not to make statements to the media which would tarnish the image of L Gamngai village in future.
