Chandel, November 27 2018:
Stating that the implementation of the State Government welfare schemes/programmes in Tengnoupal and Chandel are not 'satisfactory', the All Tribal Chiefs and Public Grievances Forum has sought the attention of the Government for better implementation of the schemes for people living under BPL.
The All Tribal Chiefs and Public Grievances Forum has held a meeting on November 24 at its head office in Chandel regarding the schemes, said a statement signed by its president Th Guite and general secretary SP Ringhring Anal.
Stating the many grievances of the people in the districts, the forum alleged that the rice under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) are distributed once in three months and added that the same rice mixed with local rice are being sold openly in the markets at a higher rate.
It also added that the release of the PMAY-G is 'too slow' to give the intended benefits to the BPL families.
The forum alleged that the authorities concerned are 'charging huge amount of money' for the gas connections under the Ujjawala scheme, which are supposed to be provided free of costs to the beneficiaries/women under BPL.
The forum further alleged that the Mahatama Gandhi NREGS 2018 was implemented for six days only as opposed to the specified 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year.
Stating that neighbouring States like Nagaland and Mizoram are implementing the scheme successfully for 100 days, the forum urged the State Government and authorities concerned to implement the scheme for about 20 days before Christmas.
Saying that the MGNERS is one important source of income for many under BPL, the forum appealed the Government to expedite all necessary actions for successful implementation of the scheme in years to come.
