Kangpokpi, May 25 2015 :
Sadar Hills-based civil society organizations (CSOs) under the banner of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills strongly condemned the killing of Paokholen Khongsai, an innocent church secretary in an alleged fake encounter near B Gamnom, formerly known as K Henjang, under Island Block in Saikul sub-division of Sadar Hills in Senapati district last Saturday.
Thangkam Lupheng, president Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai and spokesperson of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills on behalf of the CSOs including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, KSO, KWU, Human Rights, Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai, Phailengmol Area Chief Association alleged that Paokholen Khongsai was not shot dead in an encounter as reported but "inhumanely killed" in a "fake encounter" by Assam Rifles personnel.
He said the killing of Paokholen Khongsai is a case of human rights violation which is totally unconstitutional and unacceptable by the people.
Lupheng further alleged that the combined security forces also shot dead the other two victims after being apprehended.
He said the two victims were not in possession of any arms and they were in civil dress at the time when the incident took place even if they were alleged to be members of underground outfits.
The security forces could have handed over the other two deceased to the police concerned even if they suspected them to be members of an underground outfit and let the law take its own course, said KISH spokesperson while adding that the security forces have no rights to kill any person who are in their custody.
In the meantime, the Sadar Hills CSOs also demanded the State Government to take disciplinary action against the guilty Assam Rifles personnel involved in the alleged fake encounter within 48 hours and compensate the deceased Paokholen Khongsai accordingly.
If the Government fails to accede to the demands within the stipulated time, intense form of agitation will be launched, warned the CSOs.
