Kangpokpi CSOs decry wanton killings

Kangpokpi, January 22 2017:
Taking strong exception to wanton killings by anti social elements in the state, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district, Kuki Students' Organization, Kangpokpi district and Kuki Women Union, Kangpokpi district have come out strongly against such killings and termed it as a threat to public safety.
Mention may be made that unidentified gunmen shot dead a pillion rider yesterday evening along National Highway 2 near N Songlung village under Gamnom-Sapormeina PS at around 8 .
Later, police identified the man as one Kamjang Haokip (47), s/o (L) Nohsei Haokip from Gamnom Sapormeina in Kangpokpi district.
Police retrieved the bullet riddled body and deposited it at RIMS morgue for postmortem.
Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi district and various Kangpokpi district CSOs have condemned the killing in the strongest term and stated that law and order situation in the land is deteriorating day by day without any hope of improvement.
The CSOs demanded that the Government investigate the crime and nab the culprits to restore people's faith in the justice system in the State.
The Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi district and CSOs also resolved to impose a 24 hour general strike along Imphal � Dimapur road on National Highway 2 on January 24 if there is no any positive response from the Government by tomorrow, i.e.January 23.The CSOs have also decided not to claim the body lying in the morgue.
"The Kuki Inpi and CSOs has been projecting Kangpokpi district as 'Bandh Free District' in the State right after attainment of districthood and for that matter we do not want the State Government to compel us to do what we do not want to do", it further said.
